The first day of E3 was ridiculously packed by before noon. There was a line to get in as well lines to demo games and equipment. Most companies focused on 3-D gaming and produced entertainment to involve motion technology. While other companies stuck to 2-D virtuals since 3-D gadgets have yet to pour into individual homes.

The top games that stood out so far in my journey are:

Rocksmith: The real guitar hero of music gaming history. You can plug in your guitar to your Xbox 360 or PlayStation, and I mean any guitar. The difficulty could be manually adjusted to your preference. Use it as a learning tool or show off your skills. It’s played in similar ways to Guitar Hero. Coming out Fall 2011.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier: A first-person shooter that utilizes Kinect technology which looks amazing. Ubisoft did a great job with this one. The graphics and new features are beyond it’s predecessors. AI is smarter. Civilians react realistically. Online multiplayer is still available. No Kinect? No problem. You can still play with a regular controller. It is expected to be released early 2012.

Skull Girls: Everyone got a kick out of this one. Especially the men. This booth was busy all day & everyone wanted to demo it. Consider it a new Marvel vs. Capcom, with cutesy female anime characters. If you like 2-D fighter games, this is a must buy from Konami. There’s no firm due date but will be released sometime this year.

Steel Carnage: If you’re into aviation, this is the game for you. It’s an accurate simulation to modern war planes with military mission objectives. Real aerodynamics are involved. Released October 11, 2011.

Forza Motorsport 4: Perfect for car enthusiasts. Virtually drive (unaffordable) dream cars on dream tracks. It’s a Xbox 360 exclusive. Kinect ready! Due this October 11. Definite crowd pleaser at E3.

Inversion: Sci-fi 3rd person shooter available for PS3 & Xbox 360. It features futuristic gravity controlling weapons. High beam your enemy to immobilize them. Grapple objects with your power and launch them towards zombie-looking bastards. This is a great change from the typical shooting games. You’ll have to wait until February 2012 for the final version.

Mind you, this is only day 1. The convention is ginormous and I’ve only seen half of it. These are the games that stood out today. I’m looking forward to getting lost on day 2 to put my dainty hairless hands on some controllers. Stick around for Round 2 which should include Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Mass Effect 3, Gears of War 3 and more.

Game on Donkey Kong.
