Why In The World Should We Watch A Remake Of Footloose?

We know Hollywood has gotten lazy when it comes to making new movies. Despite original films like Super 8, we still get remakes of movies that were popular in the 80s. Very few improve on the original while others just flat out suck. Which makes us wonder why in the hell MTV Films would remake the incredibly cheesy yet much beloved dance movie Footloose.

The 1984 original starred Kevin Bacon as a Chicago teenager who moves to a small town where dancing and rock music are banned (*gasp* I know!). There was a whole lot of dancing and a soundtrack that featured Kenny Loggins‘s “Footloose,” as well as songs by Shalamar and Deniece Williams. It did well but wasn’t one of those movies that needed to be remade. But alas, Hollywood has dug their claws into the film and a remake is on its way. For a movie that wasn’t that great to begin with, it shouldn’t be hard to improve upon. But then again, why should the new generation care? Oh yeah, because MTV is behind it.

Check out the trailer.
