Rihanna Calls Out MTV Canada For Running A Story That Claims She Provoked Chris Brown’s Attack

MTV Canada was the source of controversy last week over a story posted on their site with Rihanna and Twitter at its center. Supposedly, the Bajan beauty admitted via Twitter that she provoked the 2009 assault by her then-boyfriend, Chris Brown. According to the story that ran on MTV Canada’s website, the Tweet read:
“I admit it. I provoked Chris [Brown] to hit me. It not entirely his fault. #imSORRY?”
According to E! Online, the story attracted Rih-Rih’s ire, as she soon took to her Twitter page to chastise MTV Canada for running the story about the fraudulent tweet. She said:
“are u f–king kiddin me?????? You’re supposed to be a RELIABLE source for news on music and this is the bulls–t u post??”
In a textbook case of journalism gone very wrong, MTV Canada later admitted they got the story from another site. The network tweeted to fans of the singer:
“#Rihanna fans. We were reporting on a story that was posted on several sites today. We had no intention to be salacious.”
SMH, I personally can’t wait for Twitter to run its course and go the way of Myspace.
