Jennifer Aniston, Amber Rose & Beyoncé Know How To Rock Short Shorts
Who wears short shorts—and actually pulls it off?
There are many things to consider when trying on a pair, whether they’re denim, twill, leather, linen or dress shorts.
- You want to make sure that the length is flattering on you. If your upper or inner thighs are a “problem area” for you, don’t go too short. You’ll run the risk of your thighs painfully rubbing together or of the shorts riding up in that area.
- As popular as it is to show off an ample booty these days, make sure it still looks classy. Begin by making sure the entire thing is covered! Be careful with certain fabrics and fits—you don’t want to be putting any cellulite on display along with your assets, and you don’t want the shorts to give your butt an unflattering shape.
- If you’re going with a lowrise short, get your correct size. Muffin tops should be spilling over! If you’re opting for the opposite, high waisted shorts, rock a body suit underneath or a very fitted tee, tank top etc. that you can easily tuck in. Billowy blouses and crop tops also work with these styles.
- Be mindful of the crotch area. The shorts shouldn’t be bunching up or producing any odd lines or camel toe.
Lastly, have fun with shorts in summer 2011! There are so many great fabrics to choose from, and prints like tribal designs, florals and polka dots. Dress shorts, like the pair Jada is wearing in the top image, can translate from day to night with the right top, heels, jewelry and accessories. The popular harem pant trend has trickled down to short styles this season. These fuller shorts are usually fitted around the waist, and then balloon out until they taper on the bottom. They look best when worn with a tucked in top or one that just hits the waist.
