San Diego Comic-Con has become the premier event where comic book nerds and fans of TV and film unite for a week of comic books (sorry, graphic novels), sci-fi, fantasy, video games and pop culture elements. The massive event always draws a ton of attention to Hollywood as event goers look for the newest films. This year is no different. While there have been discussions regarding whether or not Hollywood would have a vested interest in this event, all signs are pointing towards a strong presence at this year’s event. Which means there are certain films we’re going to be checking for from July 20th–July 24th. Here are a few of the highlights we’ll have our eyes on.

The Avengers: Rumors that the cast of The Avengers would be attending Comic-Con have gone from not happening to possibly. Initially, there was word The Avengers would have zero presence at the event. But lately, word has been that each of the cast members could make an appearance. They are still filming the movie so it isn’t a sure thing that we’ll see the cast or even a teaser trailer for the film. But anything can happen between now and then.

Superman: Man Of Steel & The Dark Knight Rises: It’s almost certain that neither of these films will feature panel discussions, but there may be a trailer for both at the event. That’s good enough for us.

The Amazing Spider-Man: It would be silly if this movie didn’t make its way to Comic-Con; especially considering fans of the last series may be skeptical of the reboot. If you recall the frenzy the first film stirred up at Comic-Con, you can imagine what a taste of this film may do.

Also at Comic-Con…

Some of the other films we may get a closer look at include Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Final Destination 5, Cowboys and Aliens, Conan the Barbarian, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes, Piranha 3DD and A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas.

Stay tuned for more on Comic-Con 2011!
