“Less Sexy Than Halle Berry,” Anne Hathaway Is The New Catwoman
Move over Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry, there’s a new kitty in town and if sexy is what you want, she might be less than purrfect.
Anne Hathaway has been cast in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises as Selena Kyle/Catwoman. Beating out actresses Keira Knightly and Jessica Biel to win the coveted role, critics are wondering if the cutesy actress bred for romantic comedies like The Princess Diaries, Bride Wars and Ella Enchanted can channel a badass villaness. There is no doubt Hathaway has some tight latex to fill and her costume may not help this feline get fatale.
“Anne’s outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies,” a source very close to the costume design tells HollywoodLife.com. “She will definitely be wearing the goggles and it’s going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman costumes. She’s going to look more like a robber. But fan boys shouldn’t be worried. This costume is going to be form-fitting enough to make Anne look smoking hot.”
In the official press release for the film, Christopher Nolan, the genius director behind Memento and Inception, stated,
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.” In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.
According to a source on set, Hathaway is doing a wonderfully whiskered job, stating “Everything from the looks in her eyes, her head movements, her body–everything is so feline. The role is taking her to new places.”
