Common Joins Colbie Caillat On All Of You

Take that, Fox News. Colbie Caillat—who’s been dubbed an “evangelist for positivity”—has enlisted Common on “Favorite Song,” one of the brighter tracks on All Of You, her new album releasing today.

While Common’s bars on “Favorite Song” aren’t anywhere near comparable to “Ghetto Dreams,” his other recent track with Nas, the ease in which he travels across both rap and pop worlds is admirable. Where rhyme partner Nas hails from the gritty streets of Queens, New York, Caillat is from sunny Malibu and the quintessential California girl. Her father Ken Caillat was a producer for Fleetwood Mac in the 70s and co-produced four track on All Of You, including the standout “Shadow.”

The singer, whose debut single “Bubbly” defined her soft, summery sound, doesn’t stray from the formula on third album All Of You, delivering another serving of strummed acoustic guitars and double-tracked harmonies. As the weather heats up and the beach becomes your second home, All Of You is a welcome addition to your seasonal soundtrack.
