Shocker PSA! Kim Kardashian Fights Against Ovarian Cancer With Shopping On QVC
Kim Kardashian wants you to shop until you drop…kick ovarian cancer that is.
The bride-to-be has teamed up with QVC‘s Super Saturday Live broadcast to support the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). In a viral video, Kim urges ladies to take care of their lovely lady parts and recognize the early signs of ovarian cancer, a cancer that kills more women in the U.S. than any other gynecological cancer. But when discovered and treated early on, the five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer is greater than 92 percent.
So how did the socialite, known for her frequent trips down Rodeo Drive, get shopping involved in her campaign to save the world? Enter QVC’s Super Saturday shopping event established in 1997. As Kim explains it on her blog:
QVC’s Super Saturday is an amazing shopping event on July 31st set up to help spread awareness for ovarian cancer. You get designer items for 50% off and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund gets the net proceeds, which will then go towards helping spread awareness of ovarian cancer and supporting the funds [sic] continued research.Help me spread the word! Kelly Ripa, a longtime supporter of OCRF, has hosted Super Saturday for the past seven years, and will once again host the event in the Hamptons. “Last year I teamed up with Kelly Ripa for Super Saturday on QVC, an amazing shopping event that raises awareness and money for the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and this year we’re teaming up again to support the great cause!”Kardashian wrote on her blog. “There are so many women affected by Ovarian Cancer each year, and it’s important that we raise awareness. I love working with Kelly, and I can’t wait for the event.”
