UPDATE: Spike Lee Will Direct Oldboy

Submitted by on July 16, 2011 – 9:37 amOne Comment

We reported the rumors last week, and Spike Lee is now confirmed to be directing the American remake of Korean revenge flick Oldboy.

Reports say that the studio is pushing for Josh Brolin to star as the film’s wronged, bloodthirsty anti-hero.  Brolin has already proven himself as a badass on a mission in films like No Country for Old Men and Jonah Hex.

As if this weren’t enough to bring Lee out of his feature film drought, he is supposedly reviving his character Mookie (the lead of 80s masterpiece Do The Right Thing) in a new film called Red Hook Summer.  On July 11, Lee confirmed via Twitter that he is filming:

“I been up since 430am. On the way to the set of THE NEW SPIKE LEE JOINT.Today is 1st Day of Shooting.Awwwwwwwwwwww Sheeeeeeeeeeeeet”
