Nominees for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards have been revealed and hip-hop is definitely in the building.

Take a look at the nominees for Best New Artist—four out of five are rappers (Kreayshawn, Wiz Khalifa, Tyler, The Creator and Big Sean). Kanye West has seven nominations and Nicki Minaj has three of her own. Pop/soul is also big business this year, with Adele equaling ‘Ye’s seven nods and Bruno Mars receiving a healthy four nominations.
