Are You Ready For Some Football?

The NFL Players Association and the league’s owners have reached an agreement on the final points for a 10-year labor deal, which will likely pave the way for a 2011 season. And just like that, football fans have something to be happy about. It’s a damn good thing too considering the NBA is likely in for a long hiatus as the players association and the owners remain miles apart on a new deal.

The lockout isn’t totally over just yet however. A vote will take place Monday to solidify the new collective bargaining agreement. On Wednesday players from some of the teams will report to facilities to accept the new CBA (collective bargaining agreement). If all goes as planned, teams can begin working on off-season transactions like free agent signings, trades and locking their draft choices into contracts. On Saturday free agency officially begins and football fever will be underway.

Fantasy Football owners will also rejoice as they can begin setting up their leagues for play. But what will be really interesting are the free agency signings that will take place at a furious pace. With players like Sidney Rice, Nnamdi Asomugha, Santonio Holmes, DeAngelo Williams, Braylon Edwards and 400+ other players all on the market , this off-season will likely be a frantic one.

All of the story lines that will take center stage heading into the season will have us intrigued. Will Brett Favre un-retire again? Where will Carson Palmer end up? Can Ben Rothlisberger and James Harrison get along? Is Michael Vick for real as a top tier QB? What happens with Cam Newton? Where does Plaxico Burress play this season? Who’s the best team in the NFL?

This is going to be fun!
