Jay Rock: “You Know You’re In The ‘Hood When…”

We’ve been rockin’ with Jay Rock since he appeared on the scene back in early 2009. The Watts, CA rapper releases his long-awaited album Follow Me Home today and we couldn’t be happier for him. The lengthy time it took for this day to arrive was no doubt frustrating to the artist born Johnnie McKenzie, but it’s obviously been worth the wait. His solid debut features high-powered guest appearances from Chris Brown (“Westside”) and Rick Ross (“Finest Hour”) and instant classics like “Hood Gone Love It” with Kendrick Lamar, plus his move to Tech N9ne‘s Strange Music label ensures the music has stayed raw and focused.

To celebrate the debut of Follow Me Home, we had Jay Rock and fellow West Coast talent Terrace Martin lightheartedly reminisce on their stomping grounds, telling tales of “You know you’re in the ‘hood when…” Check it out:
