What Happened To Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress?
Ever wondered where the meat dress Lady Gaga wore to last year’s MTV Music Video Awards ended up?
Tailored from a dozen thinly sliced flank steaks, the 35-pound meat dress is currently on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, after it first made a detour at the American Taxidermy shop in Burbank, CA (where proprietor Sergio Vigilato ensured it would be “stench-free”). The preservation process likely involved treatment with bleach and formaldehyde followed by dyeing it a dark red to match its original, fresh-from-the-butcher’s-case, color.
Plans are to exhibit the dress at the Hall of Fame’s Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power installation (alongside Gaga’s childhood piano) until next February, after which point it might tour other museums.
