Guess What New Movie Stars Jennifer Lopez, Nicki Minaj, Drake & Queen Latifah?
When we learned Nicki Minaj would be working on her first feature film and joining a cast that includes Jennifer Lopez, Drake, Queen Latifah, Wanda Sykes, Keke Palmer, Heather Morris, Jeremy Renner, John Leguizamo, Sean William Scott, Aziz Ansari, Ray Romano, Denis Leary and Josh Gad, we couldn’t help but lick our lips with anticipation.
Could this be the makings of the greatest story ever told? Perhaps a hip-hop opera for the next generation? Is our favorite Jungle Fever director working on a multi-cultural Spike Lee joint? Sadly, no, no and no. This all-star cast belongs to 20th Century Fox‘s animated children’s sequel Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Slated for a July 2012 release in 3D of course, Ice Age: Continental Drift will follow acorn loving creature “Scrat, whose pursuit of an acorn has world-changing consequences that help Sid (Leguizamo) reunite with his long lost family. The rest of the gang, meanwhile, tries to make their way home despite roadblocks from a determined menagerie of colorful characters.”
Yawn. Who cares? We are way more interested in listening to the highly animated Nicki use one of her many voices to play the yet-to-be-revealed character in the film. Meanwhile, it’s been reported that J. Lo will voice a character named “Shira,” Nicki’s fellow Young Money MC Drake voices “Ethan” and Glee’s Ms. Morris will play the appropriately titled “Gossip Girl.” (Note to directors Steve Martino and Michael Thurmeier, please get Drake, Nicki, Queen Latifah and J. Lo to collabo on at least one dope song for the soundtrack).
Listen to Nicki discuss her icy hot role and watch the trailer below.
How cool is this cast?
