Black Dynamite in 2009 became an instant cult classic as a hilarious film deeply rooted in Blaxploitation from the 1970s. Starring Michael Jai White, the movie became a favorite to the hip-hop community and received high marks from critics. Now the film will get the animated treatment as Adult Swim has picked up the show to air in 2012.

Executive produced by Carl Jones of The Boondocks fame, Black Dynamite: The Animated Series will bring back White along with the likes of Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley, Clifton Powell and JB Smoove to handle voice-over work.

Adult Swim has released the pilot episode online, and if this is any indication of what’s to come, we’ve finally found something to replace our beloved The Boondocks.
