Sexy Or Sleezy? Should A Little Girl Rock Lingerie?
Mon dieu! There’s just something wrong with this picture. Little girls dancing around in “lingerie?” Primped out in jewelry, heavy makeup and Bridgot Bardot hairdos? For what or who exactly do they need lingerie for? Seriously, this looks like a scene straight out of To Catch A Predator but don’t tell that to French lingerie company Jours Après Lunes.
Aimed at little “femmes” (girls ages 4 to 12) and bebes (babies three to 36 months), the “loungerie” line seems extremely sexual especially when you translate “Jours Après Lunes” into English: “Plays After Dark.” Not to be too explicit, but who exactly do we want playing with our young girls after dark? They clearly aren’t going to the playground dressed in frilly pink panties. But not everyone thinks these undergarments should be under fire.
“All I wanted to do was offer underwear that is soft and pleasant to wear…that is suited [to] their age, and that wasn’t an extension of woman’s labels, which are often vulgar,” Jours Après Lunes French designer Sophie Morin wrote to Web site Fashionista. “The materials… have no vulgar connotation; they are totally opaque, nothing transparent. The style is inspired by children’s fashion, with spots, bows, etc. I’d also like to remind you that in France, the term ‘lingerie’ refers to the entire field of underwear, including men, women and children. This term alone doesn’t have a sexy connotation.”
In an age where sex sells, is it acceptable to tell our little girls that they should try to be sexy from the cradle to the grave? I would hope not. This isn’t the first time kiddie fashion has come into question. American Eagle came under fire for creating a push-up bra for young girls that promised to add 2 cup sizes and Vogue France made headlines when it placed 10-year model Thylane Loubry Blondeau on the cover looking like straight-up jail bait.
Check out the photos and learn all about the controversy below. So is kiddie couture cute or creepy?

Mom’s…. how could you let you lil sweethearts pose for a quick buck!!!!Shame on you!
I don’t think there is anything wrong the sexualization of young girls. It is a part of our evolution as a species, and most of girls don’t understand the process anyway. If adults are disturbed by it, no doubt it speaks of a generation gap. Hypocritical adults have been practicing their hypocrisy since ancient Greece. You’ll live with it, get over it, get a life.
girls always like cute things and sometimes “regular bra” doesn’t have that. some companies sell cute “eye catchy” bra, but often it’s not appropriate for tween age (padded wire, push up etc). so thats why my friend has a website that sells cute appropriate tween bras, just for this reason, she ended up making them herself as she coudln’t get any nice ones. sorry for the plug but it’s http://zinkyzoo.com it has kids appropriate prints and very cute. your kids will like it I think.
