AT&T Exec: iPhone 5 Coming In October?
A “high-level” AT&T source has confirmed that an AT&T Vice President is preparing employees for an October release of the iPhone 5, according to Boy Genius Report:
“Additionally, the VP communicated the following to a group of managers: ‘Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly.’”
Rumors of the phone’s release have been buzzing around the Web for months, especially since it missed the usual new iPhone unveiling at Apple’s summer Worldwide Developers Conference. (We had earlier cited a September release date.) But these previous reports have been met with some skepticism.
But this latest leak has not caused the usual doubts, and is even being confirmed by well-connected sources. Jim Dalrymple, whom MacRumors calls “an unofficial outlet” for Apple and who quickly denied the September release date, addressed the BGR report with a simple “Yep.”
There is no word yet on whether the October event will also unveil a cloud-based iPhone reportedly being developed.
