Move over Ryu, there’s a new Street Fighter in town and he goes by the name of Ryan Gosling!

The 30-year-old actor came to the rescue of a dude in distress on the streets of New York City and used his guns (not actually guns, just rock hard muscles) to save the day. As two men were fighting in the middle of a busy intersection on 8th Street in the East Village over, what seems to be a painting, several passersby tried to break up the scuffle without luck.

“There is a man who sells paintings [that] he makes on that corner,” a witness told Us Weekly. “This older man ran by him and tried to grab and run away with one of his paintings. The painter was able to stop him before he took off with him and tackled him to the ground.”

Like any good caped crusader would, Ryan swooped out of nowhere, wearing a striped white tank top, shorts and a blue baseball cap, dropped his belongings on the floor, and peacefully pulled the two men apart.

“He was trying to understand the situation while keeping them from hurting each other,” said the witness. “Ryan put a stop to it, then he asked, ‘How much is the painting? Ryan gave him a $20 and said, ‘Does this cover what the man owes you?’ The painter thanked him and said, ‘Yes.’ Ryan said, ‘Good,’ and continued on his way.”

Video of The Notebook star’s heroism has spread like wildfire on the Internet since it was uploaded by Valeria Alvea. Check out the video below and try to ignore the sounds of immature giggling girls in the background that had nothing better to do then film a fight of a poor guy getting beat up (then again we would never have this video otherwise, so we’ll stop shaming you Valeria).
