Is 75 Too Old For Breast Implants? Plastic Surgery For Senior Citizens Is On The Rise
If 78-year-old Joan Rivers had her way, the popular saying wouldn’t be M.I.L.F. (Mom I’d Like To F#!k) it would be G.I.L.F. (Grandma I’d Like To F#!K).
The Fashion Police host, comedienne and plastic surgery enthusiast barely has a wrinkle on her perfectly constructed face. And although what Joan has done to her appearance may seem unnatural to many, she’s part of a growing trend of senior citizens going under the knife in the hopes of turning back the hands of time and discovering a modern day fountain of youth.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in 2010 almost 85,000 people age 65 and older went under the knife to enhance, not just their faces, but to chisel and shape their bodies as well.
Seventy-five-year-old Sherri Cook recently made headlines when she decided that she wanted to get breast implants. “You know, I always tell my husband that I think older women all end up looking like oatmeal boxes or matchsticks,” Sherri told Today Show correspondents, Linda Carroll and Aditi Roy. “And I don’t want to look like either one of those. I want to still have a shape. I know I’m not going to look like I did ever again. But I don’t want that.“
