Last night’s MTV Video Music Awards felt scattered and a little over-dramatized but there certainly were moments to remember. Here’s a list of standouts:

Beyoncé’s Baby Announcement
Letting reporters know she was with child on the pre-show “black carpet” wasn’t enough for Queen B. After an incredible performance of “Love On Top,” the superstar flung open her fitted blazer to reveal her baby bump, and stood back with one hand on her hip and the other rubbing her belly. This while husband Jay-Z beamed from the front row of the audience and “little brother” Kanye West couldn’t stop jumping around, hugging him. The amount of love and support Bey and Jay receive as a couple is only second to Will and Jada, and the new addition to their family could have them call it even.

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa
Talk about polar opposites—on the other end of the “couples we love” spectrum are Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa. During the pre-show MTV had Amber right beside Wiz, holding her own mic, as he talked about being nominated for Best New Artist, prompting many to throw up their hands in disgust (why does she have the spotlight again?). It was the crowning moment in a very surreal relationship where Wiz has stood by his woman scandal after scandal. Gossipers and fans alike spent the evening questioning if Amber’s former boo ‘Ye would have one of his signature heated award show moments if he ran into her and Wiz, a couple who spend more time kissing in public than anything else. How Wiz doesn’t feel silly proudly parading her around (and putting up with Twitter jokes about her getting Tyler, The Creator‘s number on the low last night after he won the award in question) is beyond us.

Lady Gaga and Jo Calderone
We get it, Gaga. You could’ve been “born this way.” Your performance was fantastic and the idea was brilliant, but by the end of the show we were definitely tiring of the Jo Calderone shtick (although seeing her reactions to performances by Beyoncé and others while in the guise of the pervy Calderone was hilarious). We were surprised though, because you’re known as someone who respects your fellow artists, at how you completely stole the thunder from Britney Spears‘s Lifetime Achievement Award. You stood up there throughout the entire speech, intimating you were going to kiss her (yawn) and just acting kind creepy throughout. You could’ve let the girl bask in the glory of what was already an unorganized, rushed tribute.

Adele
The elegant and always poised Adele showed the audience exactly why she’s the highest-selling act in music right now. While a mournful song like “Someone Like You” could have easily halted the fast-paced momentum of the show, it only served to amp up the audience more, thanks to the revered artist’s stronghold on music fans right now. Her voice is flawless, her talent captivating, and she brought class (along with her friend Beyoncé) to an otherwise pretty tacky night.

Jay-Z and Kanye West versus Lil Wayne and Drake
Twitter was abuzz with cries of “Jay won” and there was no denying that out of the Carters’ apparent simmering war, Jay-Z was the victor last night. Jay and ‘Ye showed Lil Wayne and Drake how a rap performance at an awards show should be done, with a clean and swagged-out showing of “Otis.” Weezy, on the other hand, closed out the night with an extremely awkward rendition of hits like “How To Love” and “John,” wearing his tightest jeans yet, spazzing on the mic and smashing a guitar he didn’t even play.
