Shakira Tops Taylor Swift On Twitter, Edges To Number One

The original Colombiana, Shakira, is showing her star power these days by quietly edging towards the number one spot on social network Twitter.

The Latin superstar’s account @Shakira now has over 8.15 million followers, ranking at number seven ahead of Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher, Ellen DeGeneres, Rihanna and Oprah Winfrey. Among recording artists, only Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Britney Spears, artists with much more chart representation in recent years, rank ahead.

Shakira has been on tour in Mexico the past few weeks, where she just uploaded an hilarious video of her and her team “donkey racing”:
