Don Cheadle Is A Damn Fool As Captain Planet
Most noted for his dramatic roles in such films as Hotel Rwanda and Crash, Don Cheadle is one of Hollywood’s most talented (not to mention underrated and underutilized, in my opinion) male actors today. When he’s not evoking emotion and reaction from audiences in such films as those mentioned above, you can catch him in the Iron Man series (much to the behest of Terrence Howard) and he seems to like playing superheroes. Because of the roles he takes, it can be easy to forget that he has a funny side. However, he has reminded us in a major way.
One of popular culture’s most tranquil and eco-friendly of heroes has made a comeback thanks to Cheadle, who sported a green wig, face paint, and the getup—complete with red trim—in order to transform himself into Captain Planet for a FunnyOrDie.com viral video. As you may have expected, Captain Planet is a lot meaner and colder than he was on our Saturday morning cartoons, wreaking havoc on everyone in his path.
Rumor has it Captain Planet will be coming to the big screen soon. If this is Cheadle’s audition tape, he’s won the role in my book.
