Lady Gaga Flashes Her Va-Jay-Jay In New Fashion Film: Haus Of U: Featuring Nymph
Stefani Germanotta loves her alter egos. Her first and most famous is, of course, Lady Gaga, the international pop fame monster superstar that never met a meat dress she didn’t absolutely adore. Then there’s Jo Calderone, a chain smoking, whiskey swigging male alter ego reminiscent of a young Bob Dylan and Yuyi, the mermaid alter ego. Gaga tweeted that Yuyi is “a reincarnation of my birth+artistic spirit. In incubation, awaiting a human lover to save her.” Now for her latest artistic endeavor, Lady Gaga is once again taking another form.
Following the release of the video for her latest single, “You And I,” the lady with many faces decided it would only be natural to have many videos for the track, too. After tweeting that she would be releasing five fashion films for the song, Lady Gaga debuted the first entitled Haus of U: Featuring Nymph. Directed by Dutch fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the mini-video features the 25-year-old singer in sepia tones channeling her inner nymph.
To be clear, “nymphs” in Greek Mythology are defined as “beautiful, young nubile maidens who love to dance and sing,” and are not to be confused with a “nymphos” defined as a “female, that eats, breathes, & lives for sex” (Was I the only one that thought “nympho” when I heard the title?). Stripped of her normal fare, Gaga looks very nymph-like (not nympho-like) and ethereal with little make-up, tousled hair, ballet flats and a satin slip.
