Behind The Scenes: Beyoncé’s Pulse Fragrance Commercial
First she turned up the Heat and then she made our temperatures rise with Heat Rush, now Beyoncé wants to get your heart racing with her third fragrance, Pulse, which launches in the U.S. this month.
“Women always tell me that my music makes them feel strong and confident, and Pulse is about finding that inner power,” Beyoncé told Elle magazine. “Pulse represents the woman I am on stage. When I think about excitement, it makes me think about my heart racing and a pulsating beat. It’s my stage persona.”
Like Beyoncé, the fragrance is one-of-a-kind. Inspired by King B’s favorite flower, the orchid, at the heart of Pulse is the Bluebird orchid. Known for it’s curvaceous shape and unique blue-indigo color, the Bluebird orchid has never been featured in a fragrance. Pulse also sparkles with top notes of pear blossom, blue curacao, bergamnot, peony and midnight blooming jasmine and is anchored by base notes of Madagascar vanilla.
“Pulse is a fragrance you can wear all the time,” Beyoncé said to People. “I love the idea of a signature scent that lets a woman leave her mark wherever she goes, so I always try to make my scents appropriate for any occasion.”
Pulse may smell good but, just like the pop singer, it looks even better. “I’m very proud of the Pulse packaging,” said Beyoncé in a press release with Coty Beauty, the company behind the fragarance. “I wanted to do something completely out of the box and modern, so we created the upside down, faceted bottle that highlights the blue juice inside. The chrome cap is inspired by my stage costumes, which I love because it incorporates fashion into the overall design…and I love fashion!”
Go behind the scent of the latest TV commercial with Beyoncé, styled by Elle magazine’s creative director Joe Zee and shot by the same man that directed the video for “Single Ladies,” Jake Nava. In the 2-minute clip, the mommy-to-be slinks around in a gorgeous metallic gown and shows off her bleeding foot from wearing a fierce pair of spiky Christian Louboutin pumps.
“It’s going to be a good shoot,” Beyoncé said while watching the blood flow. This is one diva that truly knows how to leave her blood on the dance floor.
