You Know You Want To See Killer Elite!

I don’t know what’s going on in Hollywood these days, but lately it seems like the writers/producers are putting together the best dream teams ever hoped for. Take, for instance, the new film Killer Elite. Jason Statham and Robert DeNiro? What more really needs to be said? We’re talking about one of the best action actors we’ve got right now in Statham (especially now that Gerard Butler went from 300 to trying to be a heartthrob) paired with the classic skills and storied career of DeNiro, not to mention Clive Owen thrown in the mix for good measure. The only way this film could go wrong is if the writing or directing is off.

Killer Elite is based on a controversial book, The Feather Men, which seems to be a fiction work which has long masqueraded as a historical account. The movie is said to be “based on actual events,” but for all practical purposes, this is a good story that never happened. Anyway, here’s the rundown: Members of the British Special Air Services are being assassinated by a lethal group known as “The Clinic.” Another group, “The Feather Men,” rendezvous to take out The Clinic and restore safety for their soldiers.

So, at first glance, there doesn’t seem to be too much to the story. I guess what is lacking in storyline will be made up for in flashy screen kills and action sequences. They better be good, as it would certainly be a shame for the talent present in this film to go to waste.

Judging by the trailer, I don’t think it will.

Killer Elite is due in theaters September 23.
