Lil Wayne & Wyclef Jean Sound Off On Politics
While Wyclef Jean can currently be found singing the praises of none other than Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin, his “Sweetest Girl” collaborator Lil Wayne is singing a different tune.
In a recent interview with Vibe, Wayne says right-wing candidates aren’t all that receptive to the views of African-Americans:
“”You learn from what the right-wing is doing and you take something from it. I feel like as a people, the most that we can do is better ourselves and learn. Then look at yourself and ask, ‘Am I the person they’re talking about or am I not?’ You have to make the most of who you are because the Republicans are never going to like us.””
Wyclef, for his part, is unabashed in his admiration for a Republican darling like Palin. The former Haitian presidential candidate tells WWD:
“I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin. She’s rad. She’s shrewd. She’s cool. Because at the end of the day, I’m for the people, because this is the United States of America. This is what America’s really about. Anyone should have the right to say, ‘Look, I can do the job, and this is what qualifies me to do the job.’”
With the race for the chosen Republican presidential nominee starting to heat up, it’s almost guaranteed more entertainers will start throwing their opinions in the ring in coming weeks.
