Demi Lovato Hits Skyscraper Highs With Lil Wayne Cover Of “How To Love”
Disney artists usually get a bad rap. Not only do we normally assume their tracks are processed heavily through a studio production factory and auto-tuned, or that they can’t sing anything more complicated than a nursery rhyme but, we also don’t expect lyrics or emotion delivered with any more substance than a sugary sprinkled Krispy Kreme doughnut.
The former star of Disney’s Camp Rock is here to change all that. This past weekend, Demi Lovato descended upon New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom with one objective: to garner some street cred and respect for all the Disney artists in the world, with what else, but a Lil Wayne cover. The 19-year-old made a thrilling comeback to the stage after spending November 2010 to January 2011 in treatment for bulimia, cutting, anorexia, depression and bi-polar disorder with a heart-wrenching acoustic rendition of “How To Love.”
She may have flubbed some of the lyrics (hey she’s not a rapper after all) but the girl can sang and sang well. No wonder Romeo proposed. Check out her rendition of “How To Love” and “Skyscraper” live below.
Demi Lovato’s third album, Unbroken, hit stores this week. Will you pick it up?
