Taraji P. Henson is not one to mess with and she is quick to let everybody know.

The 41-year-old actress recently took to her Twitter and Facebook accounts when it was discovered that she would not be featured on the cover of an upcoming issue of TV Guide Magazine besides her Person Of Interest male co-stars Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel and Kevin Chapman.

In the new CBS crime drama, the Academy Award nominated actress stars as an NYPD detective and Taraji was quick to take shots at the magazine when she felt she was being dissed and dismissed.

” WOW!!!! TV Guide is NOT including me on the cover with my cast members [sic]……..,” she wrote on Facebook. “I am the female lead of a 3 member cast and I’m not included on the cover!!!!!! Do you see the $h_t I have to deal with in this business…..I cram to understand!!!!”

On her Twitter account the actress, most known for her roles in Baby Boy, Hustle & Flow and The Curious Case of Benjaimin Button added:

Debra Birnbaum, the Editor-in-Chief of TV Guide Magazine and TVGuideMagazine.com, released a statement, after Taraji’s comments caused quite the controversy. “I made an editorial decision to do a story about the relationship between the two male characters on Person of Interest and that’s who I was going to put on the cover,” Debra told TooFab. “That has been my decision all along, ever since I saw the pilot. We’re certainly fans of Taraji Henson and her storyline on the show was never intended to be the focus of our cover story. I don’t know where there was a misunderstanding about this, but it’s been clear to everyone from the start. I don’t make decisions on who is put and not put on the cover based on race or gender. This week’s cover September 26 issue features the three stars of Charlie’s AngelsMinka KellyAnnie Illonzeh and Rachael Taylor. We are not pursuing a cover of Person of Interest at this time.”

Ouch. This clearly doesn’t make Taraji look good and it’s hard to tell if loose lips caused Person of Interest to miss out on the cover of TV Guide or if the editors never had any real intentions to place her co-stars on the cover in the first place. Hopefully, this doesn’t cause Taraji’s character to be mysteriously killed off before the season’s end.

Watch behind-the-scenes footage of Taraji in Person of Interest below. The show premiered this week—did you watch?

I remember reading these articles when they came out. After catching up on the series her outrage is ridiculous. She’s in these episodes for all of 5 minutes each week I’d barely call her a supporting character.

  • Pari says:

She’s a credited actor on the show, in fact her name comes right after Jim Caveizel’s, so it is disrespectful to exclude her when the show’s creators have shown that she’s an essential part of the show. No I don’t think it has anything at all to do with race, but it’s sexist!

I was surprised with this Person of Interest episode. Disappointed that she’s out, if it’s true. With your comments, this makes you look bad: “This clearly doesn’t make Taraji look good and it’s hard to tell if loose lips caused Person of Interest to miss out on the cover of TV Guide or if the editors never had any real intentions to place her co-stars on the cover in the first place. Hopefully, this doesn’t cause Taraji’s character to be mysteriously killed off before the season’s end”. It appears your feelings were hurt, this should be the norm with the job you have….suck it up. She was just voicing her opinion. Taraji should have been on the cover and included in story, after the pilot her roll became one of the main characters of the show, you did watch it right?

Great loss for Person of Interest! I understand that the producers and writers want to keep interest of fans not knowing what to expect next. She was a great character played by a equally great actress. I don’t blame her at all in being upset in not being included in the cover photo. She was essential in making that show go! Hope she finds another show, or movies soon. Not to be sexist but…what a beautiful lady! Doesn’t look like she is pregnant form the above photo…WOW!

I’m very sorry to see Taraji killed off, but this has happened in many long running series…NCIS, CSI, etc. where a well liked character is written out and replaced. According to her interview on David Letterman, she knew this was to happen at some point.

I believe this will inspire people to watch to see how they will operate without her. After all, that’s what the business of TV is about.

Tarji is an excellent actor, and I’m sure her audience has increased through her “stint” with “Persons of Interest”.

Good Luck Taraji, I for one will miss you. Thanks.
