Terrence Howard may be more like, DJay, the hardcore pimp rapper he played in Hustle & Flow then we originally imagined.

The 42-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was ready to throw some ‘bows when he learned that his second wife, Michelle Ghent, was receiving prank phone calls, calls that were actually meant for him. According to a source, the prank caller was an acquaintance of Terrence’s that had been given his digits. After knocking back a few cocktails someone had the bright idea to start making some prank calls. No one knew, however, that the number they were about to call was actually attached to Michelle and not Terrence.

“Her phone was dead, so she used mine and left about a three-minute voicemail professing her love for him,” said the source. “But apparently the call was made to his wife’s phone, not his. I’m assuming she got the voicemail of my friend gushing about Terrence and questioned him about it.”

Once Terrence learned of the call, he went on attack-mode and left threatening messages on the prank caller’s voice mail. “N**ga, you been calling my wife” Terrence stated in the message. “If you call my wife again I’m going to come to your house and I’m going to cut your f***ing throat. Understand that. I’m gonna tell you this one time. You call my wife again, I’m going to kill you.”

A week later, the Law & Order: L.A. star realized he made a mistake and left another voicemail: “I’m so sorry for calling you and speaking that way,” he said. “I thought you were somebody that’s been harassing my wife. Please forgive me.” He also texted the caller to apologize, typing: “My wife told me that she was receiving obscene text from you and that she was being harassed. Therefore I responded with the protective nature that a husband has for his wife. Forgive me for the anger, but as you are watching over your girlfriend, I, too, am devoted to my love.”
