Lady Gaga will leave a light-up unicorn in your purse, equates wearing a bra and panties as her form of chillin’ in sweatpants and cites Cher‘s leather jacket and see-through black leotard combo in the classic “If I Could Turn Back Time” video as her favorite ensemble.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE magazine, the always colorful Gaga speaks on Cher being her ultimate style icon growing up. “I dress like that!” Gaga says, speaking on her predecessor’s famous video outfit. “That’s my everyday look. Maybe just sort of subliminally when I was younger, without even realizing it, one day I knew that was the kind of woman I would become.”

Gaga also took the time to answer various fashion questions from the magazine’s readers:

Is it true you and your sister are creating a fashion line?

“No, we’re not creating one together, but she’s working on her own work and she’s really incredibly talented and I’m so proud of her.”

With a wardrobe as wild and wacky as yours, is there anything that you wouldn’t wear?

“There are so many things I wouldn’t wear! I’m really just anyone else when I get dressed. I just have a particular style and things that I like. I have these Norma Kamali black jersey pants that I wear for rehearsal and things. I’m not prejudiced against sweatpants. My form of sweatpants is just a bra and panties. Everyone’s asked me that, like I have some vendetta. Wear what you like, be who you are.”

What do you keep in your purse at all times?

“I borrowed my friend’s the other day, and when she got it back, it had a red Ruby Woo lipstick, fake fingernails, a light-up unicorn and perfume. And she said, “Only you would leave that!”
