Floyd Mayweather Slams Victor Ortiz & Oscar De La Hoya On Twitter
It was bound to happen.
A week after Floyd Mayweather‘s controversial knockout victory over Victor Ortiz, Team Ortiz opted to hold a media conference call where Oscar De La Hoya, Ortiz’ manager Rolando Arellano and Victor Ortiz himself discussed the fight. Well, rather than discuss anything, Team Ortiz spent more time bashing Mayweather, crying over the controversy and demanding an immediate rematch by challenging Mayweather’s legacy. It was bizarre and a pretty pathetic showing by all three participants who made themselves look petty by taking the time out of everyone’s busy schedule to plead their case.
Ortiz first suggested that the headbutt that stirred the pot in the fourth round was simply in retaliation to the elbows that Mayweather allegedly threw (but nobody saw). “He released elbows on me and the least I could do was release a headbutt,” Ortiz said. “Floyd clearly started the street fight. He loves his elbows and I wasn’t having it.”
Oscar De La Hoya continued the nonsensical call by saying Ortiz was doing well and Mayweather was looking for an out. This, despite Mayweather being ahead on all scorecards, was clearly De La Hoya wearing his promoter’s hat because he must be removed from reality. “Ortiz was landing punches,” he said regarding Ortiz’ performance before the knockout. “Mayweather was not going to knock him out. It was only the fourth round and Victor was coming on strong.”
Arellano attempted to shame Mayweather into giving Ortiz a rematch. “His legacy will be tainted and tarnished for the rest of his life if he doesn’t give us the rematch,”Arellano stated.
These were just a few of the jabs thrown at Mayweather. But did they not expect “Money” to fire back? Boy, did they get it.
The trash talk didn’t stop there as Mayweather kept them coming via his Twitter account.
“Hey Victoria Ortiz, I have a new avatar that you should use twitpic.com/6rb29g”
“Victoria Ortiz’s idol is Oscar De La Hoya aka Golden Girl twitpic.com/6razy4”
“Victoria’s Secret twitpic.com/6rayya”
“Does Victoria Ortiz want another rematch because he thinks he can win or does he want another payday?”
“Victoria Ortiz thought it was a head-butting contest. But that 2-piece gave him some act right.”
“Victoria Ortiz’s new nickname is “Take 2 of these and call me in the morning”
“I’ve fallen and I can’t get up. twitpic.com/6rauy4”
“The only man who can beat me is the man in the mirror twitpic.com/6ratbt”
“I’ll give Ortiz a rematch but first he got to get passed Andre Berto.”
Suffice to say that Mayweather won’t be giving Ortiz a rematch anytime soon.
