Legendary catwalker Naomi Campbell just may be known for her fiery temper as much as her decades long career as a supermodel. Recently, the British beauty addressed her hot-headed, cell-phone throwing past, telling Tania Bryer during an interview for CNBC Meets:

“Work in progress. I’ve apologized, accepted responsibility, I did my community service.”

Naomi also addressed her past addiction to drugs during the interview, and revealed that she overcame it by confronting her emotional baggage:

“The challenge was to go back and face things I hadn’t dealt with, [it’s] scary for anyone to go and look at themselves in the mirror and deal with them, leave that baggage there and move forward. I didn’t feel good. I didn’t want to work. I lost many friends. I was emotionally and physically drained. I don’t look back on it in a negative way. That was my calling, my path…everyone’s path is different.”

Making an appearance on Naomi’s episode of CNBC Meets is Quincy Jones, who’s a father figure to the catwalk diva (she calls him “Poppy“). The legendary music producer revealed that Naomi’s angry outbursts stem from something deeper than what meets the eye. He said:

“For a long time I was trying to get to the bottom of what was bothering her. Just recently I said, ‘What is really wrong?’ She said, ‘Poppy, abandonment…a girl has to have that relationship with her father.’”

According to Naomi’s Wikipedia, her father abandoned her mother when she was four months pregnant with Naomi. While it’s true that a father’s presence is a necessity for a girl to grow with a healthy sense of self, and nothing can take the place of a father’s love, at some point, Naomi needs to deal with these issues so she can finally find some peace.
