Jason Wu Is Launching A Collection With Target For Spring 2012
Fresh from the fashion frenzy created by the insane 400-piece collection with Missoni, Target Twitter teased and announced, via five clues tweeted by @TargetStyle, that their next designer collaboration is with Jason Wu.
Jason, we recently reported, is a staple on Hollywood’s red carpets and has wooed the likes of Kerry Washington, Zoe Saldana, Natalie Portman, Iman, Nicole Richie, Reese Witherspoon and, most notably, Michelle Obama. The 28-year-old made headlines when he designed Michelle’s one-shoulder ivory Inaugural gown in 2009 and the designer is making headlines once again.
“My collection for Target embodies my signature aesthetic of feminine sophistication, with a mischievous nod to the 1960s,” Jason told Women’s Wear Daily. “My collection for Target features clothes and accessories that are easily convertible from day to evening—sophisticated, feminine dresses, mix-and-match separates and playful accessories all with a bit of charm and dressed-up attitude.”
The limited-edition collection will be available in Target stores and online February 5th through March 6th of 2012. Even better? Prices will range from $19.99 to $59.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $59.99 for handbags, scarves and accessories. Based on Missoni’s success, selling out in mere minutes at Target, fashionistas looking for a deal better have their running shoes and orders ready.
“The exciting thing about this limited edition collection of affordable woman’s wear and accessories is that it allows me to reach a wider audience and bring my designs to people who may not have been able to purchase them before,” said Jason. “I’ve had an incredible experience partnering with Target, and I am looking forward to bringing these affordable designs to women across the country. ”
“Great design always starts with a sketch,” Jason says in the promo for his Target collection below. Find out what else inspires Jason (like a black cat) in the video below.
