Should “Devout Christian” Angela Simmons Be Naked In This PETA Ad?
Angela Simmons stripped naked for her “Adam and Eve” inspired photo shoot for the new “Eating Meat Is A Sin” PETA ad campaign. (At this very moment, millions of men are probably thanking God that the virtuous daughter of Reverend Run doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with nudity in public).
“As a devout Christian, I feel it’s very important to show compassion for all of God’s creation—and adopting a vegetarian diet is the best way to keep innocent animals from suffering,” the co-founder of Pastry said. “Animals have feelings and I think it’s important to know what happens to them. I don’t want to start any controversy, but I guess it’s weird to me that somebody’s naked, but you won’t really see anything. It’s classy, and I won’t go about it in a crazy way.”
The 24-year-old aspiring clothing designer, who was inspired to go vegetarian by her uncle Russell Simmons, shows off her killer curves in the ads holding nothing but vines and an apple just like the Bible’s original temptress. Now the fashion mogul is hoping to temp millions to adhere to a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle.
“I went on PETA.org one day and at the time I wasn’t a vegetarian yet, and I was making the whole transition,” the Run’s House star says in the behind-the-scenes video below. “I’m a vegetarian now. I want to open people’s eyes up and I want people to check it out. I want to help raise money. I want do things. I want to help. My uncle, Russell Simmons has been a vegen for a really long time. When I was younger, he was vegan and I kind of paid attention here and there. He let me watch a video that kind of threw me off and was like, ‘I don’t want to eat any meat.’ At first I was really afraid of doing it because I’m like ‘protein, I’m not going to feel good. I’m going to feel weak.’ There’s protein in a lot things and I’m happy with it. I feel lighter. It’s a good feeling.”
Angela joins a long list of celebrities that have famously stripped for PETA including Khloe Kardashian, Christina Applegate, Holly Madison, Pamela Anderson, Nia Long, Alicia Silverstone, Waka Flocka Flame, Taraji P. Henson, Eva Mendes and her aunt Kimora Lee Simmons.
