Amy Winehouse’s Dad Lands Book Deal For Amy, My Daughter
Mitch Winehouse, the father of Amy Winehouse, has just signed a deal for a book about his daughter’s life—the good and the bad. Mitch, who was in New York for a performance (he’s also a musician) when his daughter died in July, will get to share memories and never-before seen sides of the late singer in the book, titled Amy, My Daughter. According to the NY Daily News:
The publisher [HarperCollins] says Mitch Winehouse will write about everything from his daughter’s childhood to her singing career to her well-publicized struggles with substance abuse.”
Proceeds from the book will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which was set up by Mitch last month to help struggling young people, especially those who are dealing with ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction. “I feel that I need to write this book to tell the true story of Amy and to help with my personal recovery,” Mitch said. “I also want to raise as much money as possible for Amy’s foundation, so all proceeds from the book will go directly to help children who are disadvantaged through illness and substance addiction.”
Amy, My Daughter is scheduled for a summer 2012 release.
