The sequel that has been 12 years in the making is finally and officially in the works.
Universal Picture‘s The Best Man was written, directed and produced by Malcolm D. Lee he’s just been given the green light for round two. Originally released on October 22, 1999, the film enjoyed an opening weekend at number one, grossed $32 million and boasted a cast of rising stars that included Terrence Howard, Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau, Monica Calhoun, Melissa De Sousa, Nia Long and Sanaa Lathan.
The Best Man followed a group of friends that have reconnected for a wedding. Taye Diggs plays the Best Man, a writer whose semi-autobiographical novel, which had just been released, reveals that he slept with the bride (Calhoun) back in college. When the football player groom (Chestnut) finds out, all hell breaks loose as relationships are tested. Thankfully in the end, the bride does walk down the aisle after the best man almost gets thrown over a high-rise balcony. Ouch!
