Was Scarlett Johansson Too Sexy For The Lead Role In The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo?

One of the most coveted roles in Hollywood is that of Lisbeth Salander, the heroine of the highly anticipated film, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Last year, several A-listers auditioned for the role (which ultimately went to actress Rooney Mara), including Scarlett Johansson. “We flew in people from New Zealand and Swaziland and all over the place,” the film’s director David Fincher recently told Vogue. “Look, we saw some amazing people. Scarlett Johansson was great. It was a great audition, I’m telling you.”

As for why Scarlett didn’t get the role? Fincher put it quite simply, “…the thing with Scarlett is, you can’t wait for her to take her clothes off.”

Being too sexy for a role…we guess there are worse things people can say about you. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is scheduled for release on December 21.
