The rumor mill began churning in overdrive last week when sample images of what could be the seventh sire in the Kobe Bryant signature line presented themselves. Those rumors have since been confirmed, and the latest iteration of the Kobe line is sure to garner a distinct identity with its own built in ankle support. To quell the doubts of all those who hold on to the antiquated idea that hoops must be played in high-tops, Nike added streamlined, branded, ankle straps to the Nike Zoom Kobe VII. While the overall silhouette of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII is similar to its predecessors, the spanking new ankle straps are sure to be a polarizing feature. Not to get completely sidetracked by the new innovations on the latest Kobe sig, the Mamba himself wore the Nike Zoom Kobe VII to Nike headquarters in Oregon this week. Kobe Bryant kept things casual in blacked out Nike gear, sporting his alter ego Black Mamba log across his chest, and of course the Nike Zoom Kobe VII on his feet. Will these be the lightest kicks in the Kobe line? Will the ankle strap actually keep you from toppling over against killer cross-overs? Weigh in to any and all questions in the comments below.
