In the day since news broke that Kim Kardashianhad filed from divorce from Kris Humphries, rumors are swirling about what ultimately led to the demise of the couple’s union a mere two months after they were married in a lavish made-for-TV ceremony. Most likely in an attempt to do some damage control after filing, the reality TV starlet told E! in a statement:

“I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Kris had some words of his own to say about the filing, telling TMZ:

“I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce…I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

Reportedly, the last straw in the couple’s marriage was Kim‘s refusal to settle down in Minnesota, where the NBA baller is from, because of her belief that remaining in Los Angeles would be better for her career. Another alleged source of contention with the duo is Kim‘s attention-loving, fame-seeking ways, but according to TMZ:

“They’re saying in the last week or so, when they [Kris and Kim] started talking about the possibility of divorce, Kris went into full Hollywood gear, talking about ‘branding’ the Kris Humphries name with cologne, nightclub appearances and what not.

And we’re told Kris was pushing to keep their connection going, even if they ended their marriage…and that threw up red flags.

We’re told Kim was especially put off that Kris hired a Hollywood publicist over the weekend to work on his image.”

I don’t know why Kimmy’s put off…if Kris is chasing fame, that just means she’s found her perfect mate. Match.com couldn’t have done a better job. I’m just saying…
