New Film, Coming Soon: The Divide

Well, we’ve got ourselves another member in the category of post-apocalyptic films. Who knows why Hollywood likes these films so much? After a while, you’ve got to start wondering how many things can be done with the scenario, right? Something goes boom, people die, and only a few are left to attempt to survive in the harsh realities of an uncivilized and cruel world. We’ve seen it in I Am Legend, 28 Days Later, and countless others.

However, this film is different. Where other films have explored the effects of adverse conditions on human life, this one takes more of an internal approach, exploring the nature of power and relationships within a small group during perilous times. It pulls this off by asking a simple question: What would you do if you were stuck in a room with eight other people after an apocalyptic blast decimated everything else you knew and loved?

Instead of being just another disaster flick, this one is sort of like Lord of the Flies meets Quarantine. By the looks of things, we’d say The Divide is not for the squeamish. However, as always, we’ll let you judge for yourself.

The Divide features Milo Ventimiglia of Heroes fame and will be released to theaters in January.
