Sneaker Pimps Gets Ready To Invade New York
Sneaker Pimps is the world’s largest touring sneaker hip-hop lifestyle exhibition and this Friday’s show in New York City is shaping up to be the biggest yet.
Founded by Peter Fahey in Sydney back in 2003, the tour has traveled to more than 60 cities with over 200 shows in total. Featuring over 1000 pairs of rare, limited edition, vintage, celebrity signed, artist-collaborated sneakers and a collection of sneaker inspired artwork plus fashion and photography, the show is an exhaustive tribute to dedicated sneakerheads. There are also street art installations, skateboarding demonstrations, street basketball competitions and live performances, with the upcoming show headlined by hip-hop’s current critical darling Kendrick Lamar plus Stalley, Phil Ade and more.
Street artists who’ve contributed original works to the Sneaker Pimps World Tour include Futura, Dave White, Stash, Mister Cartoon, Shepard Fairey, Tokidoki, Dave Kinsey, SBTG, Methamphibian, Doze, Bigfoot, Tkid, Cope2, London Police, Dalek, Claw Money, Lady Pink, Ghost and many more. Live skate boarding demos are also featured from international superstars and pro teams like Ice Cream, Nike SB, RBK, Zoo York, 5Boro and more.
