Amy Winehouse‘s life may have faded back to black when she suffered a “death by misadventure” back in July, but along with an amazing catalog of existing classics and a posthumous album on the way, the late singer left behind a closet filled with quirky clothes that embodied her bee-hived, old-soul aesthetic. As a tribute to Amy and her continued legacy, the iconic polka-dot dress she wore on the cover of her Back To Black album will be auctioned off to raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

The off-white chiffon mini-dress was designed by Disaya Sorakraikitikul, a graduate of London’s Central Saint Martins school, who gave the dress to Amy’s stylist, Louise Winwood, who was looking for something for Amy to wear on the cover of her sophomore album back in 2006. The dress is now expected to fetch between 10,000 and 20,000 pounds or $15,000 in London at Kerry Taylor Auctions’ “Passion for Fashion” auction on Nov 29th.

“Over the years I have sold many highly valuable couture pieces related to celebrities and style icons, including the Duchess of Windsor, Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana,” said auctioneer Kerry Taylor. “I am pleased to help raise funds for her charity and encourage fans, the music industry and museums the world over to bid with us on November 29th. In my opinion, what makes this particular dress so special, is that it is an emblematic reminder of the magic voice and sublime talent of Amy Winehouse—a sound that resonates with an entire generation and always will.”

How much would you spend for a piece of music history (that also doubles as a cute frock to rock to your school dance)?
