We can’t say we didn’t see this one coming.

After months of speculation, Demi Moore announced that she was leaving her husband, Ashton Kutcher, of six years and made it VERY clear her reasons why.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” Demi said in a statement Thursday. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”

News of the split comes a mere weeks after Ashton’s now-infamous cheating scandal with Sara Leal, 22, made international headlines at the end of September. Despite their 16 year age difference (Ashton was 25 and Demi was 41 when they met), the couple instantly hit it off when they met at a NYC play in 2003 and got married two years later. It was the first marriage for the Two and a Half Men star but the third time proved not to be the charm for Demi who had been married twice before to singer Freddy Moore and actor Bruce Willis.

A source close to the actress stated that Demi is “is totally humiliated and angry, but she doesn’t want him to leave her.” For his part in the break-up, Ashton took to twitter to show some semblance of remorse:

Just two years ago the tweets between the two were a lot sweeter: “You are the best. The sweetest and I am crazy about you mr kutcher!” Demi tweeted to her then husband back in 2005. Today only one question remains: When will Demi find the strength to change her Twitter handler? Something tells us @mrskutcher just won’t do.
