STYLE PROFILE: Cherlise
As one of ten children, Cherlise understands what it’s like to fight for attention. Born and raised in the Carol City section of Miami, Cherlise Forshee realized at a young age her vocal abilities would be her ticket to success. “[When I was young] I would close my eyes and sing and when I was finished, people would be crying. I didn’t understand it, but I loved it.”
After seizing any and every opportunity to showcase her voice, the down-to-earth beauty used every opportunity she could to pursue her musical dreams. “I would clean the local studios for free recording time—that’s how I put together my demo. I was so hungry”, she says. Her hard work and dedication paid off when she was introduced to multi-platinum songwriter/producer Rico Love, who signed her to his Division1 imprint. The pair has been working together for three years now. “Rico is great at what he does, when you are working with someone who has had that kind of success and works that hard, it makes you work that much harder,” Cherlise explains. “He’s already at the top and he doesn’t sleep, so I don’t sleep. It’s a great fit for me.”
Currently promoting the singles “Love U Right” featuring Lil Wayne and “HollyHood” featuring Briana, Cherlise is set to release her debut album, A Woman, sometime next year.
