An iPhone 4 Blows Up During A Flight In Australia
Do you have an iPhone 4? Then you might want to pay very close attention to a recent story out of Australia—and make sure that you keep your iPhone far, far away from your front pocket if you take it on any flights in the foreseeable future.
On a recent flight in Australia, an iPhone user experienced several moments of terror when his Apple device exploded a few minutes before the plane touched down in Sydney. Initially, the iPhone started glowing red and got very hot before it began letting off smoke that quickly filled the cabin. The extreme heat reportedly caused the iPhone’s screen to crack and part of the back cover burned off as a result of the heat as well.
So, what in the world caused this to happen? Well, it appears that the battery in this particular iPhone overheated and caused the entire device to malfunction. However, there’s still been no official word from Apple about exactly what happened.
Does that mean that you could face problems with your iPhone? Probably not. After all, millions of these things have been sold at this point and we haven’t heard about many of them exploding. But, why take a chance? The next time you’re on a plane, slip it into the pouch on the seat in front of you juuuuuuust to be safe. Just don’t leave it there. Otherwise, you’ll be out 600 bucks and you’ll be the one that explodes.
