Idris Elba’s Scripted Web Series “Milk & Honey” Debuts Episode 2 (Video)
While BET and TV One air ho-hum sitcoms “Reed Between The Lines” and “Love That Girl,” perhaps they should take note of what Idris Elba is doing with his web series “Milk & Honey.”
With Elba handling executive producer duties and production company Brown Paper Dolls playing a major role in the series, “Milk & Honey” has the makings of what could be a perfect series for a network that is struggling to find a solid African American series. Starring Lance Gross, Bryce Wilson, Faune Chambers and Debbie Allen, “Mike & Honey” is a scripted series that follows the spiritual, professional and romantic journeys of four young and ambitious women navigating the lights, smoke and mirrors of Hollywood.
The series debuted in October and has gained a strong following and a positive response despite the episodes being no longer than 10 minutes. But it works because it doesn’t rely on a laugh track to get its point across. In this day and age, if it isn’t a reality show with African American women fighting or a sitcom with a laugh track, black television doesn’t get the exposure it needs. Hopefully somebody takes a look at what Brown Paper Dolls and Idris Elba have put into the atmosphere and gives it a chance.
