Twilight Birth Scene Causing Seizures
Two separate moviegoers suffered epileptic seizures while watching The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1, according to recent reports.
Brandon Gephart of California began “convulsing” and “snorting” during the sequence, according to his girlfriend. Similarly, an unnamed man in Utah started “shaking and mumbling”, according to his wife.
Both incidents occurred during a particularly graphic scene where the character Bella (Kristen Stewart) violently gives birth to a half-vampire baby. The imagery is full of pulsating red, black, and white lights, creating an effect similar to a strobe light. Certain forms of epilepsy can be triggered by these conditions.
My first reaction when I read these news reports was, “Wow, those guys really didn’t want to sit through the rest of the movie.” But the comments underneath the online news reports are full of similar stories of seizures, light-headedness, nausea, and loss of consciousness during the birthing sequence, from people of both genders and of all ages. While internet comments aren’t very reliable, I was surprised by the outpouring of anecdotal evidence.
So, I can actually say: Twilight is dangerous for your well-being. For God’s sake, don’t go see Twilight. Please, think of the children.
