Nicki Minaj Becomes A Barbie Doll, For Real This Time!
Mattel were slow on the draw but the time has finally arrived for Nicki Minaj to be immortalized as an official Barbie doll.
Nicki’s doll will include “every signature detail, right down to the tattoo on Nicki’s left arm,” according to a brand spokesperson. The doll will be available (alongside Katy Perry‘s new signature doll) from December 7, with all proceeds benefiting the Project Angel Food organization in Los Angeles which provides food for men, woman and children affected by HIV and AIDS.
“Barbie is obviously a pop culture icon. She’s been in the spotlight for over 50 years, and strikes that chord with girls of all ages in terms of being representative of the times. And Nicki is a big part of pop culture and also huge within the fashion industry, as well as a big Barbie fan,” Stefani Yocky, a Barbie spokeswoman, tells Billboard. “It’s really exciting for us that she’s been so generous to allow us to create this one-of-a-kind doll to support such an important cause.”
Nicki is being honored as Billboard‘s Rising Star for 2011 today in New York City.
