Denise Vasi, Former All My Children Star, Joins Cast Of Single Ladies

Actress Denise Vasi has landed a role on one of my favorite shows, Single Ladies. The former All My Children star will play Raquel, a role the producers of the VH1 original scripted series hope will fill the void left by the departure of Stacey Dash, who played fashion boutique owner Val Stokes. According to Deadline.com:
“Vasi will play the new role of Raquel, a close friend of Keisha (LisaRaye McCoy) who is a savvy business woman from a prominent Southern family on a quest to discover passion. ‘Denise is the perfect addition to the Single Ladies cast,’ Queen Latifah said. ‘She is bringing a fun, new element to the show.’”
The announcement ends months of speculation about which actress the show’s producers would choose to pick up where Stacey left off. She announced her departure from the show at the end of the summer amidst rumors that she went on an unprovoked rant about LisaRaye, during which she allegedly shouted, “No, I ain’t coming back unless that b*tch gets her a** kicked,” before storming off the set. Reportedly, it’s precisely those diva-like tantrums and inability to get along with her castmates that pushed Stacey out of a job. A source told In Touch Weekly earlier this year that the 45-year-old stunner “feuded with the cast, canceled promos and caused entirely too much drama.” Nevertheless, in a statement announcing her exit from the show, Stacey told GlobalGrind.com that her decision to leave rested solely on her need to be with her children who reside in Los Angeles (Single Ladies films in Atlanta).
We hope Denise is able to make it work…she has some big Louboutins to fill.
