Rachel Crow Was Too Young To Compete In X-Factor
If you caught last night’s episode of X-Factor you saw heartbroken 13-year-old contestant Rachel Crow fall on the floor in a sobbing heap after her elimination from the talent show.
The young teenager seemed composed right until it was announced her competitor Marcus Canty was staying in the competition after judge Nicole Scherzinger‘s indecisiveness ultimately led to Crow’s axing by viewer vote. Once the verdict was in, Crow looked shocked for a number of seconds then burst into tears, convulsing and collapsing to the ground, distraught. Her mother and the judges immediately ran to the stage to comfort her, but the damage was done and the waterworks continued till the cameras stopped recording the emotional scene.
“I am honestly a little relieved that I am out,” Crow admitted after the show. “It’s definitely a lot of pressure, and while I am very sad, I am fine.”
When Twitter and Facebook blew up with negative feedback towards Scherzinger’s actions on the show, Crow jumped to her defense, telling People magazine: “I want to say to all those people, ‘Stop, Please.’ [Scherzinger] is the nicest person and the most beautiful person inside and out. She is amazing, and I don’t understand why people are taking it out on her. It’s no one’s fault. It’s not even America’s fault. It’s no one person’s fault. It’s just what God had in store for me. And I will be okay.”
Painful and gut-wrenching to watch, the emotional scene now turns the heat up on the production teams behind shows like X-Factor and American Idol, where the eligible entry age is continuously lowered.
The younger children are cute and amazing. WHY, do their parents seem to exploit them. They have no business being under that much pressure. Please don’t misunderstand me, They are amazing. But enough is enough.
